A conversation about energy policy, ethics, and democracy in Texas.
As we approach the one-year anniversary of the Texas power crisis, the League of Women Voters of Denton invites you to join us for a conversation about energy policy, ethics, and democracy in Texas. Dr. Adam Briggle (UNT) and Peggy Heinkel-Wolfe will offer an overview of the Texas energy grid, the ethics of energy policy decisions, and how those living in a democratic society can be involved in our energy future.
Peggy Heinkel-Wolfe is the (volunteer) producer of Local News on KUZU 92.9-FM, Denton's nonprofit radio station, and former longtime reporter with the Denton Record-Chronicle who's covered the energy industry extensively. She is the author of two books.
Adam Briggle is an Associate Professor and the Director of Graduate Studies in the UNT Philosophy Department. He holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Studies from the University of Colorado and served for three years as a postdoctoral fellow working on the philosophy of technology at the University of Twente in The Netherlands. His research and teaching interests focus on the intersections of ethics and policy with science and technology. He is the author of several books including A Field Philosopher’s Guide to Fracking (2015).
